Swiss running shoe brand On and designer Alex Thilo Brunner have won the Market Product category in the 2013 Swiss Design Prize awards.

According to the jury, On’s sole technology, which consists of flexible rubber sections that compress to act as shock absorbers when landing then lock together using small teeth to launch the body forward, has allowed it to take the “overcrowded and hotly contested” market for running shoes by storm.
