Organised by the International Union of Shoe Industry Technicians (UITIC), the theme of the 18th congress is social corporate responsibility, and it will be held in Guangzhou from November 13 and 16.

Germany's Tom Schneider will discuss the experience of a German tannery, Sa Tan Tec, in China; Peter Mangione from the US will speak about global footwear supply and demand; and Steve Jesseph will inform audiences about improving profits and productivity.

The congress will start with two factory visits: Booty and Sephone Group, which specialises in leather boots and shoes, and Huajian, one of the largest ladies shoe manufacturers, employing 22,000.
