China’s biggest retail footwear retailer, Belle International, has purchased a domestic rival to give it a self-owned label in the “high-end” casual brand market.

Longhao Tiandi owns the SKAP and other footwear and leather brands, according to a Belle statement, and was bought for $17 million.

The deal is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2014.

Belle reported a rise in revenue to 17.8 billion yuan ($2.87 billion) for the first half of the year, from $2.6 billion a year ago.
