VF announces new footwear innovation centre

VF Corporation is to establish three innovation centres, one dedicated to footwear, to help it come up with innovative products in its apparel and footwear brands.

“These centres will spark opportunities to fuel growth and shape the future of apparel and footwear,” said chief executive, Eric Wiseman on making the announcement. “From the mass market to the mountaintop and from the US to South America, Asia and Europe, we will develop and deliver innovative, ‘must-have’ products for consumers.”

The centres will be located in three different parts of the US, each with a specific focus. One in Alameda, California, will focus on technical apparel. A centre in Greensboro, North Carolina, will focus on denim and one in Stratham, New Hampshire, will concentrate on footwear.

VF said it expects the new facilities to be operational during the first half of 2014.
