Footwear tariffs on agenda for OIA’s new adviser

The US-based Outdoor Industry Association (OIA), which represents 4,000 manufacturers and retailers, has hired a trade policy adviser to promote its business goals, focusing on tariff reform, the US Outdoor Act and international trade agreements.

The OIA has been campaigning against footwear tariffs and Rich Harper, a former legislative assistant, will work from the association’s Washington DC offices, which it established last year to advance its agendas in government.

Kirk Bailey, OIA’s vice-president for government affairs, said: “With his 15 years on Capitol Hill, he is well-suited to help the outdoor industry engage congress and the administration to secure its trade and business policy objectives.”
