US footwear brands Michael Kors and Stuart Weitzman are to attend the children’s section of trade fair GDS for the first time in September, showcasing products in the revamped kidwalk zone.

Overall, about 800 exhibitors from more than 30 countries will be attending the Dusseldorf-based fair, with new brands including Talbot Runhof and Gerry Weber.

A supporting programme of fashion shows, lectures and presentations supplements the main event, which takes place from September 11 to 13.

Running alongside GDS, OEM and supplier fair Global Shoes has extended its duration to four days, after feedback suggested buyers would prefer more time to make decisions.

Around 340 exhibitors from 12 countries are attending, including Y.Jessi from Guangzhou, China. Its owner, Dotan Ruimy, said: “As it’s the last fair of the season, the customer will now be able to take his time to make the final and correct decisions for his business.”

Alongside China, the country with the most exhibitors, manufacturers from Bangladesh, Hong Kong, India, Taiwan, Turkey and the US have confirmed their attendance.
