South Africa: Footwear workers settle wage dispute

The Southern African Clothing & Textile Workers' Union has settled its wage dispute with footwear employers represented by the Southern African Footwear and Leather Industries Association, according to local reports.

Workers will benefit from a 7.75% wage increase with effect from 1 July and the settlement will cover 182 footwear companies, employing about 9,600 workers.

The agreement will now be submitted to the Minister of Labour.
