Church’s performance gives Prada some footwear relief

Italian luxury goods brand Prada has reported growth in sales and revenues of 14% for its first quarter. Sales for the three-month period reached EUR 782.3 million and revenues EUR 138.2 million.

The company said leathergoods was its strongest category, with an increase in sales of 29% for the quarter.

Sales of footwear fell by 12.2%. Although its footwear sales were disappointing, Prada said sales of shoes made by its traditional English brand, Church’s, rose by 2.8%.

Ssales of apparel fell by 5.1%.
