Feng Tay production falls in May

Taiwanese outsource footwear manufacturing group Feng Tay Enterprises has reported that production fell by 1.9% in May compared with the year before.

However, it was 5.5% higher than in April, and totalled 5.9 million pairs.

Footwear sales fell 8% compared with May 2012, but rose 8.8% compared with April.

From January to May 30, 2013, footwear production totalled 27 million pairs, 3.9% higher than during the same period in 2012. Footwear sales totalled 27.1 million pairs, 1.2% higher than last year.

The group manufacturers about 50 million pairs a year for Nike and has six factories in Vietnam, four in China and one each in India and Indonesia.
