Frau says its female focus will pay off
30/05/2013
Run and staffed mainly by women, with many working flexible working hours for a better work-life balance, Frau has two factories, in San Giovanni Ilarione and in neighbouring Montecchia di Crosara. It has 211 employees in all and a mother-and-daughter team, Gabriella d’Arcano and Francesca Ferro, at the head of the company.
In 2012 it produced 900,000 pairs of fashion shoes for men and women and brought in revenues of EUR 36.5 million. Commenting on these figures brand president, Gabriella d’Arcano, said: “We are confident about the future. We had three seasons in succession with falling numbers, but this last winter season was at the same level as a year earlier and we think that was an exceptional result considering the situation in the Italian economy.”
Around 90% of all Frau sales come from Italy, but new export markets are opening up, including, most recently, Australia.
