A UK-based start-up that has designed shoes children can draw on is vying for funding in a national competition for entrepreneurs.

Skribbies have a specially developed wipeable surface and will be available in high and low tops for children aged between five and 10.

Founder Jennifer Duthie said: "Kids can make their shoes totally unique then wipe it all off and start again."

The company is seeking funding for its first production run and is targeting 12,000 sales in its first year.

It is pitted against four start-ups in the competition, organised by office supplies company Viking, and will win £5,000 if chosen as the winner at the end of May.
