Menorca provides new cash for shoe firms to attend fairs
03/05/2013
This is new money and will be added to support already available from the local government for the island’s 27 footwear firms, whose combined turnover is EUR 84 million per year.
Specifically, the authorities have earmarked the money to allow Menorcan footwear brands to take part in industry events between now and April 2014.
Fernando Villalonga, vice-president of the Menorcan footwear manufacturers’ association, explained to local media that the new funding represented a help to member companies that attend exhibitions, not full funding. He said EUR 450 would be available if the exhibition is in Spain, EUR 950 if it is elsewhere in Europe and EUR 1,800 if it is outside Europe. No company will be able to claim more than EUR 9,000 in total.
