Strong growth for sector in Bangladesh

Bangladesh’s Export Promotion Bureau has reported that the country’s leather sector increased the value of its exports over the first three quarters of the current financial year by 23.5%.

Over the nine-month period (July 2012 to March 2013), leather-sector exports had a value of $688.1 million.

Footwear exports accounted for $311.5 million of this total, an increase of 19.4%. Exports of finished leather contributed $272.3 million, an increase of almost 15% compared to the first three quarters of the previous financial year.
