Mexican researchers design special shoe for obesity sufferers
04/04/2013
A team at León-based footwear research and development centre Ciatec concluded that people suffering from obesity tend to have feet that are up to 1.4 millimetres longer than non-obese people of the same height, and that heel-width can increase by up to two millimetres. The team also recorded alterations in the toes, the metatarsals and the navicular bone.
Ciatec has already come up with prototype lasts and shoes to reflect the findings of the study.
