Made-to-measure shoe brand to open in Dubai

02/04/2013
Finnish made-to-measure footwear brand Left Shoe Company is preparing to open its first store in Dubai.

The Helsinki-based company works by asking customers to visit one of its shops to have their feet measured using a 3D scanner. Staff use the data to pick out a last, instep and size that appear to fit most closely. After testing that the fit is right using a try-on-pair, customers choose the style they like best from the available range.

Left Shoe will then make the shoes to the customer’s specifications and ship to an office or home address within seven weeks. The production time depends on the model.

As well as a flagship store in Helsinki, Left Shoe Company also has stores in London, Copenhagen, Naples, Kobe and Großwallstadt in Bavaria. The Dubai store will be located in the Dubai International Finance Centre. The company has plans to open a store in Los Angeles this summer.
