Russia proves a good market for Turkish shoes

While Russia continues to be an important market for exports of Turkish leather apparel (mainly made from double-face), the Turkish footwear industry is also reporting an increase in exports to Russia over the last two or three years.

In recent comments, the president of the Turkish Footwear Industry Association, Islan Seker, said Turkey was now the biggest exporter of shoes to Russia after China, Italy and Vietnam.

He said that in the course of the next two or three years, Turkey will be able to increase the value of its footwear exports to Russia to a level above $200 million per year.

Mr Seker said some African countries were also proving to be good export markets for Turkish shoes.
