Adidas stores in China will be “full price”

Nike’s announcement at the start of March that it will open a large number of factory stores across China selling products at discounts of up to 70% has brought a response from main rival adidas.

Adidas has said it has no plans to follow suit and that new stores it opens in China this year will sell on-trend products at full price.

Managing director for the adidas group in greater China, Colin Currie, explained: “We do see there has been a steep rise in the number of discount stores opened by some other brands, that is due, I think, to inventory challenges. Adidas’s inventory is very healthy.”
