Swiss footwear firm goes out of business

14/02/2013
A prominent Swiss footwear manufacturer has had to close down just one year short of its centenary.

Nuova Benelli, founded by Amos Benelli in Morbio in the Ticino canton in 1914, made fashion shoes for men and women. Nuova Benelli supplied high-end footwear outlets in all parts of Switzerland.

It cited difficult market conditions as the reason for closing it doors. The closure means the loss of 27 jobs at the Morbio factory.
