30/01/2013
The prize, which was presented to the 32 year old last night at a ceremony in London, includes $200,000 to put toward business development.
British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman said: "Nicholas has created a real business in an impressively short amount of time and has become one of the world's most influential shoe designers.”
Mr Kirkwood trained at Central Saint Martins and Cordwainers before launching his eponymous label in 2005. His designs are favoured on the red carpet, and he branched into men’s footwear in January.
Last year’s winner Christopher Kane was recently bought out by luxury group PPR.
