Bangladesh: footwear industry beats export target

According to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) of Bangladesh the country’s leather industry performed well, beating a target on export revenues for the first six months of the current financial year by 2.3%.

Footwear exporters brought in export revenues of $211 million, an increase of 10.1%.

In the first half of the financial year, July-December 2012, leather-sector exporting companies earned $450 million for the Bangladeshi economy, beating a government target of $440 million.
