It’s a curious number, but Spanish footwear brand Pretty Ballerinas has said it wants to mark the sixty-second anniversary of the launch of the Disney animated film of Cinderella with a new model of its ballet shoes.

Marilyn Cinderella slippers are made in clear PVC and are aimed, the brand says, at contemporary, urban Cinderellas who “refuse to give up on magic, on romance or on style”.

Pretty Ballerinas has stores in New York, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, London, Taipei, Montreal, Madrid, Barcelona and Milan as well as a significant online sales presence. Plans for 2013 include store-openings in São Paulo, Mexico City, Beirut and Bucharest.

It is currently producing more than 300,000 pairs a year.
