Argentina’s footwear manufacturing industry has met a target of producing a record 120 million pairs of shoes in 2012, a 5% increase in 2011.

A statement from the footwear industry association CIC confirmed the figure and said 85% of the shoes made by Argentinean footwear firms were destined for the domestic market.

In the course of 2012, Argentina also imported 20.4 million pairs of shoes, with 60% coming from Brazil and the rest from Asia.
