Vietnamese consumers happy with Vietnamese shoes

By 2015, around 80% of Vietnamese consumers will favour Vietnamese goods, and 90% of people in rural and mountainous communities will have access to stores stocking domestically produced products.

This was the message from a conference organised by the government’s central steering committee in Hanoi on December 14 to review the first three years of a campaign to encourage Vietnamese people to use Vietnamese goods.

According to a report released at the conference, up to 71% of consumers have “placed their trust in Vietnamese goods”, especially in relation to footwear, garments and textiles.

In a speech at the conference, deputy prime minister, Hoang Trung Hai, said that the campaign has helped with curbing inflation, stablising the macro-economy, and made businesses aware of its role in the country’s socio-economic development.
