Ms Pichard, who specialises in shoes and leather accessories, won a newcomer award in the 2012 edition of the Paris Grands Prix de la Création. Apart from the prestige, the award also means she wins EUR 8,000 in cash.
Amélie Pichard has already won orders from important retail groups Bon Marché, Printemps and Colette.
ADC is a joint-initiative of a range of industry organisations in France, with The French Leather Council (le Conseil National du Cuir), the French Footwear Federation and CTC (The French Professional Development Committee for Leather, Footwear, Leather Goods) among the most prominent.
Its aim is to encourage young French companies in all sectors of the leather industry, helping them to develop their manufacturing operations in France, rather than be obliged to produce elsewhere for economic reasons. They are receiving coaching and advice from ADC and help in securing funding to get their companies off the ground. The organisation wants to create jobs and new businesses in the leather sector in France, celebrate French creativity, preserve existing skills in the French leather industry and enhance them.
