Tough start to the financial year for footwear in Pakistan

Pakistan’s leather-sector exports for the month of October had a value of $89.4 million, down by 1.9% compared to September 2012.

Within this, footwear exports brought in $5.8 million in export revenues, 12.6% down on September’s total.

Cumulatively over the first four months of the current financial year (July-October), manufacturers in Pakistan exported over 3.1 million pairs of shoes, with a value of $30.4 million.

Compared to the same months in 2011, these figures represent declines of 17.9% and 11.5% for volume and value respectively.
