The owner of the Ecco footwear company, Hanni Toosbuy Kasprzak, has been named by newspaper Berlingske as Denmark’s wealthiest woman.

Ms Toosbuy Kasprzak took over as owner of the company in 2004 when her father, Karl Toosbuy, died. He founded Ecco in 1963. Berlingske estimated Ms Toosbuy Karprzak’s personal fortune at more than $2.5 billion.

This puts her significantly ahead in the wealth stakes of the Lego heiress, Sofie Kirk Kristiansen, whose $670 million puts her in second place, and of show-jumper Emilie Martinsen, whose $260 million fortune comes from her links to the Maersk shipping dynasty, in third place.
