China: report predicts ongoing double-digit growth in women’s shoes

12/11/2012
A new report called China Footwear Market Analysis from analyst firm RNCOS says domestic footwear sales in China will record double-digit growth each year between 2012 and 2015. The report says the women’s footwear market in China will have a value of $8.9 billion in 2014.

Domestic sales of footwear have risen in China because of the large population and rising standards of living; an increasing demand for branded and international footwear is also pushing up sales, it said.

RNCOS says the domestic footwear market is dominated by women’s footwear. Its report suggests this is likely to continue as more Chinese women achieve financial independence and high social status. The China Leather Industry Association has said footwear brands are already responding to this by increasing their ranges and by bringing new styles to market faster than in previous years.
