Japan’s CCILU heads to UK

Japanese footwear brand CCILU is heading to the UK, launching its colourful injection molded shoes online this month and in stores from early next year.

Gerry Walker, CEO of Sole Velocity, the brand’s distributor in the UK, said: “The principal component of CCILU is CCILUCELL - this is a unique material and is both super lightweight and low carbon. The shoes are manufactured using the latest advances in injection molding technology, which benefits from the capability of being able to inject two densities of polyurethane in up to four different colours in the same go. This speedy process also allows us to offer our retailers 60 day lead times instead of the usual six months for forward orders.”

The high frequency molecular vibrations absorb shock from body movement. Analysis by footwear testing agency Satra shows an egg dropped from five metres on to the material does not break and the impact is absorbed.

“Its strong molecular link provides abrasion resistance exceeding that of natural rubber, and it uses an anti-mildew, antimicrobial formula to keep customers comfortable and healthy,” added Mr Walker.

Two million pairs of the lightweight, flexible shoes have been sold worldwide since its global launch a year ago, and the brand is distributed in 23 countries.
