Special exhibition celebrates 25 years of Jeffery-West

01/11/2012
Northampton Museum and Art Gallery will open an exhibition on November 9 dedicated to men’s footwear and accessories brand Jeffery-West.

The event is a celebration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the launch of the brand, founded in Northampton by Mark Jeffery and Guy West on November 12, 1987. Until February 9, 2013, the museum will show a retrospective of the company’s first 25 years and look forward to its second.

Specialising in shoes in either polished leather for a stiffer feel or calf leather for something softer, Jeffery-West now has customers in almost all parts of the world and own-brand stores in London’s West End, the City of London, Leeds and Manchester, as well as an outlet at head office in Northampton.

Entitled ‘If we could be heroes’, the exhibition will recreate the interior of one of its stores (themed on a mix of gentlemen’s club and bordello) and will celebrate the brand’s heroes through displays, images and music. It will also include oral history, as fans and wearers of Jeffery-West shoes have supplied photographs of their favourite shoes to form part of the presentation.
