Jimmy Choo to expand in China

Shoe company Jimmy Choo has acquired the rights to its distribution in China, a move it says will give it more control over the "vital" market.

The high-end brand, which is based in London, has been distributed by Kutu on the mainland since 2009 but will take over the business with immediate effect.

It will open four stores in the coming months, with plans to launch another 30 in the next few years.

Pierre Denis, chief executive of Jimmy Choo Asia, said: “China is a vital market for Jimmy Choo and we have ample opportunity for growth. Having control in the market will allow us to further develop the brand and our business and become closer to our customers in the region.”
