Military boot contract win took Turkish firm two years

One of the companies to have won a share of the contract to supply new military boots to the UK ministry of defence, Turkish company Yakupoglu Textile and Leather (YDS), has said that the selection process took two years, while the customer evaluated the company’s production capacity, financial stability and commitment to research and development.

Over the next four years, the company will supply 300,000 pairs of  boots.

Managing director, Vedat Yakupoglu, has told local media in Turkey that his company supplies military boots to customers in 25 different countries and hopes to become a recognised player in the worldwide market for this type of product.
