ANCI to launch new Micam Shanghai exhibition
19/09/2012
The inaugural event will take place in Shanghai from April 9-11, 2013, at the same time as Shanghai Fashion Week. ANCI’s intention is to run the event twice a year, with the second 2013 edition taking place in October.
At a press conference in Milan on September 18, Fabio Aromatici, general manager of ANCI, said an international steeting committee would select between 200 and 220 footwear companies to take part in the first event. The country the footwear brand comes from will not matter, he said, but its standing as a “market leader in the international footwear and leathergoods market”. He confirmed that Chinese footwear brands would be able to take part.
He commented: “We don’t expect to see a boom in orders for Italian footwear brands in China immediately, but we can see that the Micam event that takes place in Milan twice a year is already attracting buyers from China. Five or six years ago, we had no data about the market in China; now its sixth biggest for Italian shoe exports and we feel that we simply cannot wait any longer to launch this initiative.”
