India: Metro plans 30 new stores

One of India's largest footwear retailers is planning to open between 30 and 35 stores this year, despite a fall in sales over the past six months.

Metro Shoes currently has 230 outlets in 60 cities and plans to grow sales 30% this year, according to local media.

It opened a store in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, this week, stocking more than 12,300 pairs of shoes.

Bollywood stars Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan are Metro brand ambassadors.
