05/09/2012
The GDS shoe and accessories event opens its doors today, with high-end brands including Coach, McQ by Alexander McQueen and Rachel Zoe making an appearance for the first time.

More than 850 exhibitors will be presenting the trends and looks for the 2013 spring/summer orders season at the three-day event in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The number of premium brands has risen by 4%, and now includes Silent People, Versus and Visconti & du Réau.

GDS director Kirstin Deutelmoser said: “Visitors can draw inspiration in one hall from luxury brands like Vivienne Westwood or from cool sneaker brands like Ishikawa and at the same time be convinced by exhibitors with other focuses like Snipe with its sustainability concept.”

The number of children’s shoes exhibitors has also grown – with 16% more in attendance compared with this time last year.

Companies from 44 countries will be represented, alongside 360 exhibitors at Global Shoes, a trade show for sourcing which runs in parallel to GDS.
