Turkish footwear exports registered growth of 20% in value for the first seven months of 2012 compared to the same period in 2011.

Export earnings from footwear for the seventh-month period in 2012 reached $334.3 million. President of the Turkish Association of Shoe Designers (TASD), Islam Seker, said the increase was the result of improvements in branding and design that Turkish footwear firms have been able to make.

He said he was confident Turkish footwear exports can have a value of more than $1 billion by the end of 2015.
