Mexican singer takes her footwear brand to the US

A Mexican television and singing star, Anahí Giovanna Puente Portilla (usually known by her first name only), has launched her own brand of footwear in the US, but is aiming it especially at Hispanic women there.

Anahí launched her own shoe brand, Aviesta, in Mexico in April this year and has said she was soon inundated with enquiries from Hispanic women in the US asking when the footwear would cross the border. So on August 21, she travelled to Los Angeles to launch the brand in the US, making the shoes available to customers there by mail order and online.

She explained that she is heavily involved in the design of the shoes, drawing pictures of what she wants the shoes to look like for her design team to work on and selecting the materials she wants to use (which she says are always of premium quality).

“My shoes are designed with what Latin women like in mind. We Hispanic women like to see ourselves as tall, elegant and pretty.”
