Sales increase for ASICS in Europe

The European division of sports footwear and clothing brand ASICS increased its sales by 5.7% in the first quarter of 2012 compared to the same three-month period in 2011.

ASICS said on announcing the results that it was particularly pleased with its running apparel category, for which the sales increase was 34%.

Netherlands-based chief executive of ASICS Europe, Alistair Cameron, said at the time of the announcement:
“Despite a challenging economic environment, Spain, France, Germany and the Nordic regions in particular continue to grow above our expectations and we are pleased with the company’s growth across Europe as a whole. We have a positive outlook for the rest of 2012 and we are confident that our success as a true sports performance brand will continue to produce great results.”
