NY Shoe Week to launch in September
A new Shoe Week fashion event is to launch on September 6 to coincide with
the spring-summer 2013 New York Fashion Week.
A full day of invite-only events is set for the premier
Glass Houses event on September 9. This will include a runway show, a luxury handbag
and shoe lounge and a footwear lifestyle panel discussion with key industry figures.
Shoe Week will also
present a live presentation from preeminent photographer Michel Tcherevkoff's Shoe Fleur: A Footwear Fantasy.
Another key event is the inaugural Sneaker Concert,
a luxury sneaker and sneakerhead exhibition co-created by Kevin Leong, CEO of Origami,
and senior vice president/creative director of Russell Simmons' Simmons Designs
Group.
A range of footwear and accessories brands will be
involved, including Aiisha Couture, Althea Harper, Estuaries NY, Giemme, Linea
Pelle, Mauri, Norma Kamali, O'Neill, Princess by London Shoes, Q by Pasquale,
Ted Rossi NYC and Theia Couture.
"Shoe Week was created to fully feature and
celebrate the luxury shoe market during fashion week," said co-founder and
creative director Kimmie Smith.
"Accessories are the key aspect to creating
signature style. Our goal is to bring accessory lovers together with carefully
curated, established and emerging shoe designers and collections."
Co-founder and CEO Paul Farkas said: "Shoes and
handbags are extraordinary stand-alone fashion markets needing their unique
platform. We designed this specific environment for the industry to come
together around luxury footwear, furthering and optimising business,
creativity, coverage, and community exploration of the aesthetic wonderment of
shoes."
