Q2 Bata India sales up 18%
Footwear manufacturer Bata India has reported a 18%
increase in sales for its second quarter. Sales for the period totalled 4.3 billion rupees
($77.8 million), while profits grew 29% to 409.8 million.
The company opened 35 Bata stores, seven Hush Puppies
stores and four Footin stores during the three-month period.
Rajeev Gopalakrishnan, group managing director, Bata
India, said: "Our focus to expand the retail outlets and our constant endeavour
to improve the merchandise with newer and better designs will continue. In fact
such great response from our customers for the ever improving product range is
very encouraging.
"We launched our new campaign 'Discover New'
focusing on new and younger audiences, with an attempt to gain more footfalls.
"Through this unique initiative we wanted to connect
better with our customers offering them freshness in all aspects, especially
the renewed vibrancy and fervour that can be experienced at our stores, new
merchandise and great services."
