Turkey: young women want higher heels

28/06/2012
A new study carried out by researchers in Turkey has found that, in general, women there prefer to have a heel height of seven centimetres in their shoes, viewing this as a classic look.

However, in the 25-40 age-group, the preferred heights are between nine and 11 centimetres, according to the results of the research.

Researchers Meltem Toker and Cicek Dalgic said on announcing the results that women in other Mediterranean countries, including Spain and Italy, prefer even higher heels, up to 15 centimetres. Turkish women appear slightly more conservative in their preferences for now, but if the trend of younger women wanting higher heels continues, it may not be long before they catch up.
