Wenzhou shoe exports to US on the rise

Figures from the China Leather Industry Association show that shoe exports from Wenzhou, China, to the US rose sharply in May.

In value terms, shoe exports grew 21.05% year-on-year to $69.4 million. In volume terms the increase was 23.2% at 10.8 million. Exports rose 31.46% in volume compared with April figures.

This suggests that the decline seen during the first five months of the year may have ended. Shoe exports from Wenzhou to the US fell 6 7.05% in value and 86% in volume between January and May.
