China spends more on imported footwear

The authorities in China have confirmed that leather-sector imports into the country in the first four months of the year increased by 10% compared to the same period in 2011.

From January-April 2012, Chinese importers brought footwear, leathergoods and other leather products valued at almost $23.5 billion. Leathergoods contributed most to the total, followed by footwear, luggage, semi-finished, then finished leather.
