Malaysian company J Nine International, which distributes Swiss footwear brand Kybun, is planning to dramatically increase sales and distribution in the coming year.

Its head office, which includes a sales outlet, currently sells around 60 pairs a month, but the company is to open seven new stores at a cost of MYR2.5 million (approximately $800,000).

The initial sales target for each new store will be 120 pairs a month, which should take annual sales to around 11,500.

J Nine has also partnered with enterprises in Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand to sell Kybun footwear in these countries. Singapore recently opened its first Kybun store and Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines are set to open similar stores by the end of the year.

Kybun was created by Karl Muller, the inventor of Masai Barefoot Technology. The shoes are designed to give the wearer the sensation of walking on air and is said to offer various health benefits.
