Footwear forum to be held in Nicaragua
PRONicaragua, the official investment promotion agency of Nicaragua, and the Footwear Distributors & Retailers of America (FDRA) will join forces to host a new investment forum entitled ‘Nicaragua, The Right Step!’
The event, which will be held on June 13-14 in Managua's
Barcelo Hotel, will welcome footwear manufacturers, international footwear
brands, industry associations, retailers and industry consultants from the US,
Dominican Republic, Brazil, Venezuela, Central America and Japan.
Speakers at the event will include: Matt Priest, president of FDRA; Mike
Jeppesen, president of Global Operations Group; Mike Todaro, managing director
of American Apparel Producers' Network (AAPN); Clay Jenkins, senior
vice-president of global sourcing, compliance and new business development at
Brown Shoe Company; and Leandro Winter, director of Tecshoes Latinoamerica.
The programme will feature an overview of the international footwear market,
industry trends, commercial footwear rules and market access and Nicaragua's investment
potential. It will also offer site visits to international footwear
manufacturers operating in Nicaragua.
The FDRA’s recently published 2012 Annual Footwear Sourcing Forecast showcased
Nicaragua as a "rising star" with great potential to increase its
footwear exports to the US.
