South African distributor AVI has acquired footwear manufacturer and retailer Green Cross.

AVI, whose existing licensed brands include Kurt Geiger and Lacoste, hopes to increase the scale and profitability of Green Cross' operations. The company’s annual turnover is around R7.6 billion ($913.1 million).

Green Cross has production facilities in Epping, Cape Town, and sells its products through a network of 30 retail outlets across South Africa. Its annual turnover is around R300.6 million.
