Lagerfeld makes senior appointments to boost brand

High-end fashion label Karl Lagerfeld has made a series of new appointments to help accelerate the development of the brand and business on a global level, with important implications for its involvement in footwear.

Simona Clemenza, previously the global commercial director of LVMH brand Kenzo, is joining Karl Lagerfeld as global sales director. She will focus on global distribution strategy, bring strategic distribution partners on board and build a commercial team, the company said. She will be based at Karl Lagerfeld’s corporate headquarters in Amsterdam.

At the same time, Antonella di Pietro, is also to leave Kenzo to join Karl Lagerfeld. Ms di Pietro has spent the last eight years at the LVHM group, most recently as the vice-president in charge of accessories for Kenzo. She will become involved immediately in preparing a new range of shoes,
bags and accessories that Karl Lagerfeld intends to launch in spring 2013.
