China: Shishi city footwear exports down 22.9%

28/03/2012

Footwear exports from the Chinese city of Shishi, in the municipal region of Quanzhou, decreased by 22.9% in the first two months of the year, according to the Quanzhou Bureau of Inspection and Quarantine.

The bureau said the decline was due to weak demand in the global market. It encouraged footwear manufacturers to export more to emerging countries, and said the city’s industry should work to increase added value.
