China’s footwear industry exported shoes with a value of $5.95 billion during the first two months of this year.

On announcing the figure, the China Leather Industry Association said this represented a decline of 2.1% compared to the value of shoe exports in January and February 2011. This was in the context of an overall increase in the value of Chinese exports in the first two months of this year, rising by 6.9% to $264.4 billion.
