Senior representatives of the footwear industry in all parts of Asia gathered in Manila on March 3 for an international conference on the current challenges footwear manufacturers in that part of the world are facing.

More than 60 delegates took part, representing China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam.

International co-operation was the central theme of the conference. Some of the main topics that came up for discussion were increases in production costs, and access to the Chinese market for overseas brands.
