India: success at Expo Riva Schuh
According to India’s Council for Leather Exports (CLE), Indian exhibitors have booked spot orders worth EUR4 million and expected orders worth approximately EUR135 million, during the 77th edition of Expo Riva Schuh, an international fair dedicated to the footwear production sector, held at Riva del Garda from 14-17 January 2012, Italy.
As a regular participant, the CLE organised its largest participation yet, with 75 members having a total space of 1,414 square metres of the winter collections hall.
The 2012 event had a turnout of 12,513 visitors, recording a substantial increase compared to January 2011. This edition also had 1,230 exhibitors, with 886 of them coming from abroad, and a net total of more than 32,000 square meters of exhibit surface area. Also significant was the presence of 270 Chinese exhibitors, a select group which re-animated the China Fashion area.
It may be mentioned here that during the first eight months of the current financial year 2011-12, Italy’s shares in imports from India for leather and leathergoods increased by 26.8% to $ 352.6 million.
